7 Easy Ways to Personalise Your Ceremony

My absolutely favourite thing about a celebrant wedding? Being able to personalise your ceremony in anyway you want but if you are looking for some inspiration, how about you…

1. Make a unique entrance or exit

Harry Potter fans, why not walk into the Theme of Harry Potter music, or have a Voldemort/Potter worthy dual walking down the aisle?

Big night life fans, get a banging tune on and dance down the aisle. You can dance down together, or with your own people, or all come in together with whistles and glow sticks to really get the party started for your guests.

Get creative with all these moments and let it represent you! How about a flower-man to lead you down the aisle? I am so here for this trend!

2. Honour loved ones

Celebrating a massive life event like a weeding can bring up a mix of emotions when important people are no longer with you, but your celebrant can weave them into your ceremony script or include symbolic elements that represent your loved ones.

3. Write your own vows

It can feel daunting writing your own vows and finding the words to express how to you feel, but it does give you the opportunity to say what you want to say in the way you want to say it. And your celebrant will be on hand to help you craft what you want to say, or they can write them for you.

4. Host your ceremony at a sentimental place

One of the best things about a celebrant ceremony is that you can hold it ANYWHERE, unlike registrar weddings which can only be held in specific locations. So, if you want to do it in your home, a favourite spot, or on the clifftop where they proposed to you, you can!

5. Involve loved ones

There are so many more ways to involve friends and family than just having them on your wedding party. You can include a symbolic ritual such as a hand fasting or sand ceremony to involve loved ones.

6. Curate your own playlist

Of course, you can walk down the aisle to Wagner’s Wedding March (Here Comes the Bride) if you would like, but you could also walk down the aisle to your favourite song, have a playlist throughout the ceremony, or have someone sing a song with sentimental meaning to you both.

7. Add an element of your culture

This could be down to how you dress, by including a ritual such as Jewish chuppah traditions, the Chinese tea ceremony, or the Indian Seven Vows, or by including music such as an Irish-jig or Hawaiian hula. If you’re blending two cultures, you can include rituals from both, creating a beautiful fusion that represents your shared journey. Your celebrant will be able to help design a ceremony that incorporates any of these elements.
